Summary

Omron has introduced a new E3AS-HL CMOS laser sensor that uses industry-first sensing technology to significantly improve detection capabilities. The sensor can reliably detect difficult-to-detect targets, eliminating time-consuming installation design and adjustment work during equipment commissioning.
Detection using conventional reflective photoelectric sensors is affected by the color, material, or surface of the target, and requires human experience and skills to design and adjust the sensor installation for each target. This problem often occurs in the automotive and food industries, which need to detect a variety of targets with complex shapes and smooth surfaces.
The new E3AS-HL CMOS laser sensor can reliably detect targets that reflective photoelectric sensors cannot. Its industry-first sensing algorithm achieves high-speed sampling of 10,000 times per second, while Omron's unique accumulation processing technology improves sensitivity by amplifying the weak amount of light reflected by the target. Manufacturing technology adjusts the position of the receiving lens in the sensor to the micron level, enabling reliable detection of targets of any color, material, and shape.
These technologies enable the E3AS-HL sensor to reliably detect curved and irregularly shaped smooth automotive parts as well as multi-colored smooth foods and packaging. The E3AS-HL sensor can be used in reflective photoelectric sensors and helps significantly reduce the time required to adjust sensor mounting positions, angles, and thresholds.
